Editor's Corner
By Mike Keithley
We've had a dry winter in the Bay Area, and the window for rainy weather is closing fast. Are we in for another round of water rationing?
Well, that's a local thing, not much interest to the BC Audience. But the spring BC does have a couple of how-to and fix-it article that will engage you.
Deborah Armstrong discusses friendly, experienced strategies to help you fix your recalcitrant technology, and Doug Rose introduces the notion of testing before buying in the Amazon age. Plus we have Jeff Thom's intense article on activities in the new aging program proposed by the Governor. One of President Wilkinson's articles will feature the upcoming issue of the BC memorializing the Late Cathie Skivers, which should be in September. The other article, her president's message, is super special. Read on to find out why.
And there's "Why I Didn't Get that Job," and more.
So enjoy the cool spring mornings and lengthening evenings, and read your BC.
But before I retire, let me point out that those of you thirsting for an audio version of the BC can hear it on NFB newsline. Unfortunately only the telephone interface works. The BC is not available on the Victor Stream or other computer devices.
To get to the BC using the telephone, follow these steps:
1. Use your credentials to log on to NFB Newsline using the local phone number you were given. If you've used Newsline before, you start at the main menu. For information on getting your Newsline account, read Linda Porrelle's article "The Future of The Blind Californian" in the Winter, 2019 BC.
2. Find a Blind Californian. The instructions work if you're in California.
Press 2 for the state information channel.
Press 9 3 times to reach the option-list that includes the California Council of the Blind.
Press 1 and then select a BC issue.
If you loose track of where you are, press the star key until you reach a place you know.
