CCB Diabetics Group: Special State Affiliate

"I can't eat that." "I need to test before I eat." "I need to exercise." "How can I test and read the glucometer?"

If you are one of the growing number of people diagnosed with diabetes or pre-diabetes, these are important questions to ask. You are not alone.

A group of people including Sylvia (Sugar) Lopez, Veronica Hernandez, Maile George, Guillermo Robles, David Jackson, Larry Gassman, and Christy Crespin heard the call by the late Ken Metz to research the need for a chapter affiliate in California that would speak to the needs of people with diabetes. For over a year and a half we have been meeting, offering suggestions for meals at convention, providing meetings via conference call and Zoom to address various topics, and more. At the 2019 conference/convention in Fresno, CA, Veronica made tiny sample bars of soap and we publicized this group.

Although this article is being written on February 15, 2020, we are hosting a town hall style meeting via conference call on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 to ascertain our next steps. Further discussion will be invited upon conclusion of this call, as well as a possible survey to address and follow through with our next steps.
