Which do you enjoy more: saving money or spending it? Do you pay bills online, or are you still writing paper checks? Are you seeking employment and wondering what will happen to your SSI/SSDI when you start your new job? Did you know that SSI recipients now have an option for saving money? Are you wondering how to help your student, who is maxing out their credit cards? Please join us as we discuss the answers to these questions and more during our Wells Fargo Financial Literacy workshop! This workshop will be divided into modules. Come for certain modules, or stay for the entire thing! There will be hands-on activities and plenty of interaction throughout!

The Cordova Community Council and the CCB are proud to present, “Insights” Tactile Art Show at Mills Station Arts and Culture Center. Volunteers will be available to help facilitate light rail transportation to and from the Marriott and will stay to assist BLV attendees to enjoy the show on Wednesday night from 5PM-8PM for the Artists’ Reception. The art show will run on the weekend Friday, March 23 from 3PM-6PM and Saturday & Sunday, March 24-25 from Noon-6PM. Free Admission. Don’t miss this amazing experience!

The Dining in the Dark fundraising gala, to be held at the Sacramento Marriott, Rancho Cordova, will bring together community leaders, industry professionals and caring citizens for an evening of fine dining to raise awareness and resources for the California Council of the Blind. Guests will be invited to enjoy their meals wearing eye shades in low light conditions and will utilize their other senses to maximize this unique culinary experience. The event will feature Christine Ha, Blind Chef, and winner of Master Chef Season three. There will also be an exclusive auction, local Celebrity Emcees Dan & Michelle from MIX 96.1 Married Mornings Show, and dance music provided by blind DJ’s, Regina Brink and Joe Green, from J & J FM.

Learn what you, as a person with a disability, can do to prepare yourself for a potential disaster situation.
10 AM “Voting Privately and Independently”, Fred Nisen and Paul Spenser, attorneys from Disability Rights California's Voting Rights Unit will discuss the state and federal requirements for accessible voting. The presentation will cover how to request accessible election materials and outline your many options for voting privately and independently. They will go over long-time requirements, such as accessible voting systems for in-person voting, and new technology that will allow for accessible vote by mail. They will also talk about some countie’s shift to vote centers in 2018 and beyond, and opportunities to join local committees to help improve election accessibility.
11 AM “A Legal and Advocacy update on Website access”, Michelle Iorio, Staff Attorney, Disability Rights Advocates. Ms. Iorio will provide an update on recent cases involving the accessibility of websites, and will also inform you how you can become an advocate for such accessibility.

12:30 - 4:00 PM Energy Upgrade CA’s Fellowship Riverside Walk in Collaboration with the American Foundation Parkway Foundation.
The American River Parkway Foundation and the California Council of the Blind proudly present our first Fellowship Riverside Walk. The walk will take place adjacent to the American River Parkway in Rancho Cordova. The length of the event will be a .5-4-miles for 45 people who are blind and low vision and 25 volunteers. No charge. Open to the public. Participants must be registered in advance.
