Welcome to the CCB happenings for March 1.
From The Editor:
At long last the logistical items are in place to fully change the name from the California Connection to the CCB Happenings. There was a typo in last week's Happenings. Items for submission can now be sent to submit.happenings@ccbnet.org
Thank you for your patients while we have been getting things set up for this to be a seamless transition.
Great News About Energy Upgrade California:
We have received the news that our Energy Upgrade California grant has been reinstated. This means that anyone who has been hoping to have Duane Poole speak to their chapter can call him at 800-221-6359 and follow the prompts or email him at duane.poole@ccbnet.org to set something up.
2019 CCB Convention:
Don’t miss the 85th anniversary of the California Council of the Blind as we hold our annual 2019 Conference and Convention in Fresno, June 5-9 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Fresno Convention Center, located at 2233 Ventura Street, Fresno.
Be sure to mention that you are attending the California Council of the Blind Convention. The all-inclusive rate is $135 per night, although the reservationist may quote you the price of $117.90 plus tax, which is equal to $135.
You may make reservations by calling 559-268-1000 or online at
http://doubletree.hilton.com/en/dt/groups/personalized/F/FATCCDT-COB-201...
Although the cut-off date for making reservations is May 22, we strongly urge you to make reservations early, since rooms may go quickly and our room allotment would be fully used.
The hotel is just a few blocks from both the Greyhound bus and Amtrak stations, and both of these transportation options are available from most areas of the state. Also, the hotel operates a free shuttle to and from those locations as well as the airport. The shuttle runs from 6:00 am-9:30 pm.
From The CCB Scholarship Committee:
The CCB Scholarship Committee is now accepting applications from CA residents attending college full time for the 2019-2020 academic year. This application will be open from February 1 through May 15.
