Welcome to the CCB Happenings for September 27.
From The President
Dear CCB Members:
A number of you have recently received a bogus email supposedly from me. This has also happened in the past but not on this scale.
On the surface it doesn’t look harmful: you are supposed to telephone me, but digging deeper, you might have been asked to purchase gift cards.
I would never send you an email out of the blue asking you to do something regarding money. Thanks to those who have alerted me to this problem
Apparently lots of folks in the ACB community have regularly been victimized in this way. Probably “bots” troll for any kind of response they can get. I have not been hacked, and because my name is out there (on our website and on ACB’s main site) this kind of thing will probably continue to occur.
Just be suspicious, and of course, feel free to check with me to make sure.
Judy

EUC Call To Action
Dear Members:
The California Council of the Blind has been asked to provide feedback about Energy Upgrade California and it's Time-of-Use (TOU) outreach campaign. Specifically, the CPUC wants to know how to improve education and outreach materials to "hard-to-reach" communities, or in our capacity, the blindness community.
If members are interested, and in particular chapter leadership, please contact James Collins at 925-998-6126 or via email at james.collins@ccbnet.org no later than Wednesday, October 2. He will be our liaison between CPUC, EUC, and CCB. EUC has requested CCB representatives be available for comment through Friday, October 4.
Thank You.
