Invitation to Share Our Stories:

Being Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian, and a person of color with a disability presents unique challenges. The California Council of the Blind wants to acknowledge them. The Inclusive Diversity Committee invites you to come to listen and share your unique story of being marginalized in your own country. When we listen to each other, we nurture and strengthen our communities.

A Message From the Convention Planning Committee:

The Convention Planning Committee will be holding an open Membership Focus Call on October 28 at 7:30 pm.

The focus of this call will be:

  1. How can your Chapter, Affiliate, Committee, or Group sign up for a time slot for Virtual Convention month?
  2. Programming suggestions:
    1. What topics would you like to learn more about?
    2. What are some programming suggestions that you have?

From the Alliance on Aging and Vision Loss:

CAAVL invites you to attend our upcoming check-in and support group on Friday, October 30 at 10:00 a.m. We invite both CCB members and nonmembers to participate in this Zoom meeting every Friday beginning the 30th. Our primary goal is to provide support to people who are locked in due to COVID, and to support those going through sight loss.

The Bylaws Committee invites you to an Open Discussion on November 5, 2020 at 7:30 pm-9:00 pm. The Committee is developing a 3-5 year plan to get the Bylaws in shape and we want to hear from you, the membership. Membership Focus Calls Presented by the ACB Membership Committee:

Please save the dates for the next two "Membership Focus" calls hosted by the ACB Membership Committee. The description and call in info is below.

On Sunday, October 25 at 6 pm Pacific/9 pm Eastern, the focus will be on “How can we Expand our recruiting efforts to minority communities?” Peggy Garrett, chair of the ACB Multicultural Affairs Committee, will introduce the presenters to share “Tips for Recruiting People of Color”.

On Sunday, January 24 6 pm Pacific/9 pm Eastern, the topic will be: "How to Start a new chapter in your special interest or state affiliate?"

Active Blind Inland Valleys Pampered Chef Fundraiser:

Active Blind Inland Valleys, CCB is excited to invite you to a Pampered Chef chapter fundraiser, presented by Cindy Golding, our Pampered Chef consultant. The fundraiser will begin virtually on the Zoom platform on Saturday, October 31, 11:00 AM, and will end on Saturday, November 7, 2020 5:00 PM. San Francisco Chapter Halloween Event

Join the San Francisco chapter for an hour or so of spooky stories on Halloween, Saturday, October 31 at 8:00 PM. If you'd like to read or tell a story, please let Vita know so everyone can be included.
We'll have time at the end to tell our trick or treat stories or just hang out.
