No Happenings May 13
Due to the convention occurring next weekend, there will be no May 13 edition of the Happenings. Here's to a great convention and see you on the 20th.
CCB voting:
Prior to May 13th, Every CCB member should have received either in an email or by a phone call the number they can call or text to vote in CCB elections. If you are a registered CCB member and did not receive your voting phone number you may call 916-749-5371/b> on the evening of elections to get your number. You will need to provide your first and last name.
CCB 2022 Virtual Conference and Convention, “Navigating the Future Together”
Please join the California Council of the Blind as we navigate the Future Together. The past couple of years have been a bit trying to say the least. It is time to look forward and reimagine what this world has to offer Californians who are Blind or have low vision and what we have to offer it. Many things may have changed, but the passion for advocacy, connection, and equity that the members of CCB possess never will.
Registration fee: $25.00
In addition, starting April 18th this year’s virtual convention will include Pre and Post Convention activities that will include Business Meetings, Programs, and Workshops hosted by our many Special Interest Affiliates and Committees. Pre and Post Convention Activity information will be posted widely.

CCB 2022 Nominating Committee Report
The CCB Nominating Committee has selected the following candidates for elected offices.

Elections will take place on Friday, May 13 during the CCB Conference and Convention.
Assistive Technology Fund
The Association of Blind Citizens operates the Assistive Technology Fund. The (ATF) will provide funds to cover 50% of the retail price of adaptive devices or software. The ABC board of directors believes that this program will allow blind and visually impaired individuals access to technology products that will have a significant impact on improving employment opportunities, increase the level of independence and enhance their overall quality of life.
The products covered by this program must retail for a minimum of $200 with a maximum retail price of $6,000. Persons eligible to apply for assistance must have a family income of less than $50,000 and cash assets of less than $20,000. If applicants are selected to receive a technology grant, they will be asked to provide proof of income, such as tax or bank records.
Applicants must be legally blind and a resident of the United States to qualify for this program. The deadline to submit an application for the current grant period is June 30.

California State Career Event
May 18 & June 1
Join us for a two-part series to learn
more about job opportunities for
people with disabilities.
May 18 Get an inside look at the state job application process, veterans' preference and the Limited Examination and Appointment Program (LEAP), which supports persons with disabilities to get jobs in California state civil service. There will also be a session going over job interview techniques persons with disabilities.
June 1 Wrap up the series with a State Virtual Career Fair! Departments from across the state will be present and looking for applicants.
