Welcome to the CCB Happenings for September 1, 2023.

Announcing The E-Reader Discussion Group

Hello,
The California Library Users of America (CLUA) and the Braille Revival League of California (BRLC) are working on an upcoming Braille E-Reader discussion Group to be held on Saturday September 9, 2023, at 5:00 PM PDT.
We will begin the event with the CLUA membership drawing then proceed with the E-Reader discussion.
During the E-Reader discussion, we encourage you to share tips and tricks that enhance your enjoyment of the E-Reader device. Or you can bring up problems that are hindering you from using your E-Reader.
We hope that tips are shared that will address problems that others may be struggling to overcome.
This event is for all braille readers regardless of your level of experience with braille or with the NLS E-Reader.
For further information about this event, please write to the E-Reader Discussion Group Committee at E-Reader@ccbnet.org or call BRLC President Frank Welte at 510-541-1442.
To obtain the Zoom information for the event, please RSVP by writing to e-reader-rsvp@ccbnet.org
Thank you. CLUA and BRLC hope that this Discussion Group will encourage and enhance your use of Braille reading resources.

From the CCB Membership Committee:

we invite you to begin consideration of application for the Chapter of the Year and Affiliate of the Year incentive awards. No matter how large or small your effort, if your chapter or affiliate is reaching out to its members, the community or beyond, we want you to apply and brag about your chapter or affiliate’s outreach. Each year we have awarded one chapter or affiliate, and now we want to reach out to affiliates and chapters separately. Please stay tuned for more information about how to send in your details. From feeding the hungry, to giving out scholarships, to hosting an event, to any other innovative outreach effort to chapter members and beyond, please begin talking now about who will be given the opportunity to write up your submission. And don’t forget about planning to attend the Future Leaders Seminar on September 28-30, Thursday through Saturday. This is for everyone.

Memorial:

There will be a memorial gathering to honor longtime Glendale-Burbank chapter member Anthony Signoriello. It will take place on Saturday, September 23 from 11:30 to 3 p.m. at the AA club at 10641 Burbank Boulevard, Unit A in North Hollywood. Cross street is Coenga. All are welcome.
