Announcing the CCB Housing Committee
The CCB Housing Committee has been formed to address the housing concerns of blind and visually impaired Californians. We held our first meeting on Tuesday, September 12, and we will hold regular meetings on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:30 PM. For further information, contact Frank Welte at (510) 541-1442 or send email to Frank.A.Welte@gmail.com
From the CCB Membership Committee:
we invite you to begin consideration of application for the Chapter of the Year and Affiliate of the Year incentive awards. No matter how large or small your effort, if your chapter or affiliate is reaching out to its members, the community or beyond, we want you to apply and brag about your chapter or affiliate’s outreach. Each year we have awarded one chapter or affiliate, and now we want to reach out to affiliates and chapters separately. Please stay tuned for more information about how to send in your details. From feeding the hungry, to giving out scholarships, to hosting an event, to any other innovative outreach effort to chapter members and beyond, please begin talking now about who will be given the opportunity to write up your submission. And don’t forget about planning to attend the Future Leaders Seminar on September 28-30, Thursday through Saturday. This is for everyone.
From CCB Educator James Collins:
The Power Saver Rewards program is a continued hearts and minds campaign/initiative created by the California Public Utilities Commission intended to provide residents with rebate incentives for conserving energy during a called Flex Alert.
Flex Alerts are issued during heat waves and are designed to remind us when and how to save energy to avoid preventable power outages in California.
I will be reaching out to CCB chapters to gather feedback along with volunteer opportunities. If you know of and or can encourage community members to participate in events summer, please contact CCB’s main office at (916) 441-2100.
