SSI/SSP Cost Of Living Adjustment
Urgent letters are needed to change the Governor's mind on signing AB1584 into law.
This bill would, commencing with the 2018 calendar year, reinstate the state's cost-of-living adjustment for recipients of the SSI/SSP program. This would not automatically mean that the Legislature would grant the annual adjustment, but it would reverse the repeal of this provision made during the 2009 recession.
You can send a letter to the following address:
The Honorable Edmund G. Brown Jr.
Governor, State of California
California State Capitol, Suite 1173
Sacramento, CA 95814
You may also telephone the Governor's office at (916)-445-2841 or submit an online form, using the Governor's website at governor.ca.gov.
Thank you for helping to keep thousands of persons with vision loss out of poverty by urging the Governor to sign AB1584.

TV Productions
My name is William Elliott and I am a member of Fresno Chapter of C.C.B.
In October 2015 I joined a local non-profit television studio in Fresno. The Community Media Access Collaborative (CMAC).
This organization provides training in television production, studio and field equipment together with up to date editing and local broadcast opportunities with Comcast and AT&T. All for just $50 per year membership. Most productions are made with other members giving their free time and skills voluntarily.
I have worked on several other members programs over the past few months after completing many of the required classes.
In recent weeks I have produced three programs in a series which I decided to call 'Blindside Fresno'.
The first programs looked at medical reasons for loss of vision, a local retinologist, Dr. Vivian Kim gave her time freely for that program.
In the second program Nathan Romo, president of the local Fresno chapter CCB talked about his life and the role of CCB in the community.
Future programs are planned to include, how the visually impaired successfully parent sighted children, programs that look at adaptive technology and of course there will be the occasional mention of our guide dog teams too.
After the programs are broadcast by CMAC they are then posted to my YouTube account for viewing around the world.
I am looking for ideas for any possible program subjects for the future.
Also if any CCB members are wanting to raise an issue, 'Blindside Fresno' could help as we have the ability to use programs such as Skype to interview you at a long distance for our program.
Thank you for reading, Have a nice day
