Good news on the technology front. SB1396, which we are co-sponsoring with Disability Rights California, and that would establish an Office of Accessible Technology in the State Department of Technology, has passed its Assembly policy committee and will now head to Assembly Appropriations. Amendments have been taken to reduce the cost of the bill by, among other things, limiting certain reporting requirements. The main goal of this bill is to provide the expertise to state agencies in order to ensure that their web platforms become accessible.

As part of our monitoring of the settlement with Sutter Health and its affiliates, we are looking for more information about patients’ recent experiences with the accessibility of Sutter Health’s website and mobile app: My Health Online. In particular, we are interested in your experience using the Message Center to send and receive messages from your health care providers.
We want to make sure the website and mobile app are accessible. If you use Sutter Health’s website or mobile app, please let me know about your experience.
