Vision Loss Empowerment Workshop

Sponsored by the California Alliance on Aging and Vision Loss (CAAV) — an Affiliate of the California Council of the Blind (CCB)
Date: Saturday, June 19, 2021
Time: 3 to 5 PM
Location: Zoom
CAAVL invites you to participate in an empowerment workshop on how to live with vision loss. All are welcome to attend. The workshop will be facilitated by Vivian Younger, a rehabilitation consultant and specialist for the blind and visually impaired.
You will learn about adaptive techniques of daily living and how to overcome the limitations imposed by vision loss. There will be opportunities for you to share your vision loss journeys and to express your feelings, fears and concerns about a new eye diagnosis and/or your progressive vision loss.
Through role-play, you will learn how to obtain information and advocate for yourself when discussing your vision loss with your doctors and family members. You will be informed about what to expect during a low vision clinic evaluation and how to conduct quality eye doctor visits.
As a result of participating in this vision loss empowerment workshop, CAAVL hopes you will gain confidence and develop a proactive approach for living with vision loss with dignity.
Please send Vivian Younger an email to register for the workshop. Include: your name, email/mailing address, contact number and the format you wish to receive follow-up handouts--Braille, large print, audio or email attachments.
Once you have registered for the workshop, you will receive a Zoom workshop invitation.
