Toni has been partnered with guide dogs since 1967, and is a current member of Golden State Guide Dog Handlers, Inc.
accomplishments include:
- A recipient of the prestigious Maxwell awards from the Dog Writers Association of America.
- First blind handler working with a guide dog to obtain the AKC obedience titles CD and CDX.
- inducted into the National Hall of Fame for Persons with Disabilities in 1998.
- With her late Husband Ed, Toni has written books, articles, produced a DVD and has conducted many workshops related to assistance animals and the human-animal bond.
- Founding Board member and officer of International Association of Assistance Dog Partners, a consumer advocacy organization. www.iaadp.org

Dr. Waterhouse Practiced Veterinary Medicine in Des Moines and Kansas City before moving to Fresno. In 1995, she started Waterhouse Animal Hospital, a practice employing 8 primary care Doctors. Her practice specializes in animal cardiology, dentistry, and surgery.
